Dr Garach grew up in South Africa; and, after graduating from medical school in Johannesburg, he practiced Family Medicine in rural communities for several years, where he was highly respected and known for his "get it done" approach to challenges.  Research opportunities brought Dr Garach to Houston, where he discovered his enthusiasm for teaching and for passing on his knowledge to those aspiring to careers in medicine and healthcare.

When not working, Dr Garach spends time enjoying nature and wildlife; and, he is a very passionate follower of football/soccer and is a huge fan of the Liverpool Football Club.
